Among the Maeght family’s close friends were painters and poets such as Louis Aragon, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, René Char, Marc Chagall, Robert Desnos, André Frénaud, Alberto Giacometti, Joan Miró, Francis Ponge, Jacques Prévert, Pierre Reverdy and Claude Simon, whose rare and incomparable proximity enabled them to build one of the most important artists’ books collections of the 20th century.
