The monograph Arman 1975–2005, edited by Chiara Spangaro and produced by Studio Celant in collaboration with the Arman Archives in New York, presents the artist’s research and artistic production during the final thirty years of his life.
Following and complementing the first volume, Arman 1954–1974, edited by Germano Celant (2020), the publication traces the professional trajectory and body of work of the Franco-American artist through an original narrative, examining the evolution of his practice and the persistent renewal of the series he developed.
Following an introduction by the volume’s editor, readers will discover newly commissioned contributions by Cécile Debray, Rosemary O’Neill and Jérôme Sans. Through a contemporary critical perspective, these essays explore specific aspects of Arman’s practice, including his performative actions, his holistic approach, the monumental expansion of his work, and his influence on subsequent generations of artists.
The monograph is further enriched by an illustrated chronology devoted to Arman’s professional and personal life. This section highlights the creative milestones, exhibitions and key works that shaped the final thirty years of his artistic journey, as well as their critical reception, situating them within their historical and artistic contexts. Scholarly appendices complete the volume. A unique opportunity to discover the Hommage à Arman exhibition in the Maeght Foundation’s gallery.
