Bernard MONINOT (1949, Le Fay)
The survey is a projection of the sky on the earth. The drawings in the series reflect the movements of the gaze contemplating the landscape.
Guided by chance, the drawings in the Cadastre series emerge in the moment. They proceed from observation and from harvesting the Mémoire du vent drawings, which the artist captures using a stylus attached to the ends of flower stems or tree branches. This work led to a liberation in Bernard Moninot’s movements – the drawing is no longer based on a preconceived idea, but arises from a new spontaneity. Continuous lines, drawn with acrylic or pen and Indian ink, form a space on the paper generated by the strokes alone. The interlacing lines compose a kind of all-over.
